Apperantly there has been some debate over whether or not Wayne is actually performing this suicide watch job. I don’t see why that’d be a good rumour to spread around… it doesn’t really have a particular point to it. Most rumours have a reason behind them, usually to ruin a persons reputation or whatnot. But I fail to see how this is a rumour at all? Plus here is another Riker’s employee speaking on Wayne and his job:

Turns out he is working as a Suicide Prevention Aide patrolling the suicidal inmates in his unit. According to a Riker’s corrections insider there are three SPAs for each unit in the Eric M. Taylor Center where Wayne resides.

“He works the midnight shift in his unit,” says the source. “He starts at 11pm and ends at 7am.”

According the source, Wayne took a test for the position that is one of the better jobs offered. “The other inmates clean, work in the pantry, they all have some kind of job but his allows him to be alone.”

As for how Weezy is holding up: “He’s a perfect gentleman,” says the source. “He’s respectful, he keeps to himself. He doesn’t want any trouble. He wants to do his time and get the fuck out.”

Just as I’ve said before people, he wants to do the time and dip on outta there. So yeah, he’s looking at 8 months give or take.

Siiiiick, we’re waiting nigga.

Wayne has a new way to keep him busy while he’s serving his time! He takes part in a Suicide Watch program for other prisoners. If hanging out with The Best Rapper Alive doesn’t stop you, I don’t know what will..

Check this out:

Lil Wayne makes his living as the bestselling rapper on the planet, but while serving his year-long jail sentence at New York’s Rikers Island, Weezy has entirely new job: keeping watch over suicidal inmates. Antonia “Toya” Johnson, the mother of one of Wayne’s children, tells Us Weekly, “Wayne has a job. They got him on suicide watch for other prisoners. He watches the crazy prisoners and makes sure they don’t kill themselves.” Finding himself in a 9-to-5, albeit in prison, Weezy shares a similar complaint with much of the working population. “He likes the job even though they don’t pay him much,” Toya says of the Young Money multimillionaire.

Toya adds that Lil Wayne is adjusting well to prison life, and getting along with his fellow inmates. He’s even managed to avoid getting a haircut. In addition to suicide prevention tasks, the rapper is also a fledgling jailhouse blogger, writing responses to fan mail on his Weezy Thanx You blog from Rikers, where Lil Wayne is serving a year behind bars— or less with good behavior — after pleading guilty to weapons charges stemming from a 2007 arrest in New York City.

As for Toya’s reality-TV costar Tameka “Tiny” Cottle’s fiancee T.I., who just wrapped his own gun-related sentence at a halfway house outside Atlanta, the King rapper’s role during his prison term was serving as a motivational speaker to his fellow inmates — a job he performed before heading off to jail, too.

Time for a Toke and a TOT:

Here is another update on how Lil Wayne’s doing in jail. This is what another Riker’s Island employee had to say to MTV:

“He’s doing well. He’s adapting to the situation,” the source said, adding that Wayne was not involved in a brawl that took place at the facility over the weekend in which 13 officers and three inmates were injured, according to New York’s Daily News. The incident reportedly occurred after inmates refused to be locked in for the night, and did not take place in the area of the facility where Wayne is being held.

The source also scotched a rumor that Wayne got into a confrontation with another inmate just days after his sentencing.

“That’s a rumor I heard, but nothing substantiated,” the source said, adding that Wayne is usually in protective custody and, for the most part, has been getting a positive reaction from inmates. However, the source said that some inmates seem not to be aware of his situation.

“While he’s walking the hallways, he’s told not to communicate with these guys,” the source explained. “So they’re a bit disgruntled because he’s not hollering back.”

Of course Wayne isn’t going to go and fuck someone up in jail and risk lengthening his sentence. He is much more intelligent than that. He knows he has much better shit to do in the outside world, like dazzle people with his rap ability or make more money!
