Time for a TOT:

I’m sure some of you have heard that employers and some schools check Facebook profiles before hiring or accepting you.

Currently, there are about 45% of companies who admitted to doing this! Can you imagine what the numbers would be like if everyone who did this admitted to it?

I had to voice how stupid this concept is. Facebook is a website that is used to share pieces of your personal life with the people in your friendship circle, school, or family.

I think we can all agree that we don’t consider our job or workplace to be a very personal place. You often have to act more… civilized.. even though that’s the wrong word for that. What I mean is you don’t normally act the same around your boss as you would when you are with your friends.

So what I’d like to know is why are employers and schools looking at profiles of applicants in order to aid in their decision-making process?

Its fuckin stupid! People don’t normally post anything that has to do with work or whatever, and what you do in your own free time should be completely and utterly up to you!

Why the fuck should you have to go through your 800 photos and countless comments/wall posts and change your privacy settings or deleting the profile all together ?

This is your freedom to express the things that you want to express. You should not have to hide things simply because you may be rejected for a job or school you are applying for. Would you take your boss to a club, bar or party with you? I don’t think so. Having your boss or potential employer run through your profile is the exact same thing.
