The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford Review.

Category T.O.F.

Overall Movie score: 9 1/2 out of 10

Last Song Heard: (uptown Drake ft. Lil wayne)
Last Food Eaten: Chicken
See This Film?: YES

From writer/director Andrew Dominik comes the long titled and lengthy timed The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford starring Academy Award nominee Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck. The film in so much of its glory has positive components that make this an unforgettable experience at the movies.

Many critics were stating Brad Pitt gave his best performance ever in Babel however, his Jesse James is the best performance of his career by a mile. Pitt wears Jesse like an overgrown coat that you don’t want to get rid of. Pitt gives the most tortured, endearing, and frightening performance thus far. He makes the audience so uncomfortable and awkward yet gives off sensitivity and compassion for a very unlikable and ferocious man.

Casey Affleck, arguably the better actor of the Affleck clan gives the most pathetic, annoying and cowardly performance in the last ten years; and its brilliant. With his deep “admiration” for Jesse, his Robert Ford is obsessed with Jesse’s presence and wants enjoy the moments with him, even if he is in fear of him. The finale is truly his show as he stretches out his acting legs and dissolves into a character you can’t wait to see off-screen

The musical score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis is on par with Clint Mansell’s classic Requiem for a Dream score, if not better. In the films most horrific scenes, the music turns them into something beautiful. You’ll want to sit through the end credits just to hear it one more time. The music will draw you back to the film to see it again. The score also fits the tone for the most of the scenes.

Andrew Dominik’s direction is perfect. He uses the camera in such a unique way that you never miss anything that happens. In one of the film’s best scenes, he places the camera so that you can only see Pitt’s silhouette become meshed into a train’s smoke and then reappear seconds later as it pops out. Dominik also wrote the entire script by himself, which really shows how versatile he is. He originally wrote the film into a 3hr and 50min cut that the studio made him trash.

This film is an epic in itself. the story unfolds, we get deeply involved in the characters, the conclusion happens and we even get the sad, emotional aftermath.

If you are a true fan of incredible story telling, if you are a fan of real art in film, mark my words you will appreciate this film. Its beautiful and too this day still one of my favorites.

Below i will post the trailer and a clip.
Just A T.O.F

for several seconds we, the audience, are in complete darkness and can only hear the oncoming train…
then we see that headlight coming round the corner…and the music starts…
that’s just great movie-making. i love this scene

The trailer, WATCH!!

Eden Log Review.

Overall Movie Score: 7 out of 10

Last Song Heard: (Im Me – lil wayne)
Last food Eaten: Chicken Fajitas
See This Film?: Not for the weak hearted.

Imagine waking up in an futuristic underground cavern, in a mix of soupy mud. You don’t who you are, what you’re doing there, or anything. And to make matters worse, there are mutants and high-tech forces who are anything but friendly. Finding a way out, realizing who you are and what type place this is all while trying to survive is basically what’s going on in Eden Log.

The flick has an undeniably cool atmosphere and look to it. Shot in a sort of black and white manner, with good lighting and a truly cave-like, claustrophobic feel, the movie definitely succeeds in creating a life-like, but nightmarish environment.

With unique ideas and a cool look the movie succeeds. But overall the movie just didn’t grab me. I was never really creeped out, drawn into the story, or pretty much anything. I was into the whole mutant dilemma, and I was curious about who our mysterious guy was, but it’s obvious those issues will be resolved, and when they were, they were less than mind-blowing. You may think otherwise.

Eden Log had loads going for it visually, but when it came down to what matters when you’re supposed to care for a film, it kind of just exists. Very average in anything else besides the look, but nevertheless the flick was original and I wasn’t bored for any of it. It just had so much potential, I felt kinda disappointed when it was done. Kind of a head-scratcher as well, but it’s not brain surgery.
Many times you will find ourselves wondering what is happening as there way of filming is different and original. scenes consist of the feeling of it being one big shot, the transitions between angles are flawless and it draws you into the film.

Just A T.O.F

Below are two trailers that show the sheer eeriness of this film, its truly unlike anything ive seen.

JAY Z’s Documentary Short – Released Today.

See This Film?: Yes.

The new 15 minute Jay – Z documentary called “NY-Z” has been released today. I will post the full documentary below!
I don’t consider this a review because it is simply a look into him preparing for his concert and some insight on his past, work ethic and maturity. It is also too short to be considered a film. I enjoyed watching this and i believe you could learn a thing or two about hip hop by watching this. Its safe to say  Jay – Z has reached legendary status and has proved himself in the music world many times over, and as to date is still producing new tracks. Enjoy.

Clash Of The Titans – Opens Friday, April 2nd.

Last Song Heard: (Over – Drake)
Last Food Eaten: Lamb & Potatoes
See This Film?: Yes, for sure.

Clash Of The Titans first came into play about 2 years ago, much hype was built up behind it as it involves a classic warrior played by Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation) and his quest to conquer the gods (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades). With a strong backdrop on greek mythology this film is sure to deliver and be a solid blockbuster. I am actually quite surprised this isent being released in the summer as it has the potential to rank in allot of cash. This is the first big blockbuster to come out since avatar and coincidentally Sam Worthington stars in both of these films. Be sure to keep on eye out for him, because his star is surely on the rise, and quick.

Three new clips from the film has been released that are posted below. I will also post the trailer to this film. You can quickly tell this film looks incredibly entertaining and has a big production behind it.

Awesome, always gotta have that training scene. For anyone who’s seen “James Bond: Casino Royal” the character training Sam is the main villain in that film, named “La Shefre” He was easily the best villain depicted in any of the James Bond films.

Very impressive scene. We all know the classic story behind medusa, interesting to see how shes depicted in a film.

The Kraken….Wow….The kraken was also featured in the second “Pirates of the Caribbean” film for anyone who remembers.
